Be SMART Online

SAFE

Keep your personal information safe. Don’t post or give your personal information (Email addresses, phone numbers, passwords, full name…) out to those you are talking to.

MEET

Friends you’ve made online are strangers and meeting them can be dangerous. Always make sure you have your parent/carers’ permission or even have them with you when you meet someone you’ve met online. Even if you think you know the person, online friends are still strangers.

ACCEPTING

Accepting files (emails, messages/DMs, images, text, opening files)  online can be dangerous. They might have viruses that can break your phone or even contain a nasty message.  If unsure, ask an adult!

RELIABLE

You cannot trust everything online, information found on the internet are not always true. Not everyone or everything online is reliable or trustworthy. Always check with someone who knows or check in books to make sure if it is true.

TELL

Always tell an adult if something online has upset or worried you. If you or someone you know is being bullied online, always tell a grown up.
