Our Curriculum

Mercenfeld’s Curriculum

We believe children learn better when they are encouraged to use their imagination and apply their learning to engaging contexts. Therefore, our curriculum is delivered through imaginative learning projects which provide a rich menu of exciting and motivating learning activities that make creative links between all aspects of our children’s learning, whilst providing an essential skills framework.

Mercenfeld’s curriculum is delivered through Cornerstones. Cornerstones is a creative and thematic approach to learning that ensures comprehensive coverage of national expectations, providing lots of learning challenges throughout the academic year that will require children to solve problems, apply themselves creatively and express their knowledge and understanding effectively across the curriculum.

Our Curriculum Map shows the topics that will be covered this academic year for each year group. A Curriculum  Overview shows how this curriculum is delivered whilst further information about how statutory requirements are implemented can be found in Development Matters (Early Years & EYFS) and the National Curriculum (Years 1-6). For our Intent, Implementation and Impact  please see each subject in our drop down menus to the side as well as for our whole curriculum.

For further information please refer to individual class pages found under the ‘Pupil’ page of our website and contact either Mrs Chorlton or Mrs Weatherill via the school office if you have any queries.
